Srinagar, Jan 28: A multi-storey shopping complex was gutted in a major blaze here at busy but congested Gankhan market of Hari Singh High Street this late afternoon.
An official of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) said the fire erupted at around 4:30 pm here from the top floor of the shopping complex and instantly engulfed it in entirety.
He said the fire tenders were immediately rushed to incident spot and after more than an hour, the fire was brought under control. “The complex has suffered heavy damage but nearby shops and commercial establishments have been secured,” the F&ES official added.
