Shopkeepers protest against Police, block Reasi-Shivkhori road

REASI, July 9: Following alleged misbehaviour  by policemen at the Naka, locals and some shopkeepers of Pouni held a protest demonstration and blocked Reasi-Shivkhori road for around three hours, here today.
The trouble erupted this morning when Pouni Police laid a naka at main bazaar and challaned several vehicles, including two wheelers. As a few  shopkeepers approached the Police and explained that they were facing inconvenience because of the nakas, some heated exchange of words took place between the cops and  the locals.
Agitated over non-cooperation by the cops, all shopkeepers and some locals started protesting against the police. They raised slogans against the   Police and demanded action against the SDPO. They also blocked the main Reasi- Shivkhori road for around three hours thus causing tough time for Shivkhori pilgrims in this sweltering heat.
Later,  SSP Reasi Tahir Sajad Bhat personally reached the  spot and pacified the protesters. He also announced to conduct an enquiry into the episode.
