Shopkeeper hangs self, unidentified person run over by train

JAMMU, May 29: A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree while an unidentified elderly person was run over by train in two separate incidents.
Police sources said that, a shopkeeper identified as 35-year old Avinash Gupta, son of Nanak Chand, resident of New Plot, was found hanging inside a wildlife park in Manda area, falling under the jurisdiction of Pacca Danga police station.
No suicide note or any other document was recovered from the possession of the deceased.
The body has been handed over to family members for last rites after completion of legal formalities, while a case has been registered and investigations started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step, they added.
Meanwhile, a 70-yr-old unidentified man was run over by a train at Railway Station.
An old man, whose identity could not be ascertained, was run over by a train this morning at the platform, they said.
The body has been kept in the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for identification, they added.
