Shopkeeper fined for selling misbranded salt

KISHTWAR, Feb 26: A shopkeeper was today imposed a fine of Rs 2100 for selling misbranded salt in his shop here.
The sample of ‘Sugar Gold Premium Iodized Salt’, which had already been declared misbranded by the Food Analyst was lifted by the Food Safety Officers from the shop of Aizaz Hussain, son of Atta Mohd and residence of Pakal Saroor, which when sent for analysis at NABL accredited laboratory, Jammu, found misbranded.
Accordingly, the challan was produced before the court of Additional District Magistrate under Food Safety and Standard Act 2006. The Adjudicating Officer, RK Shavan after finding the seller guilty imposed a fine of Rs 2100 on him and directed him to return the whole stock of misbranded salt to the distributor.
