SHC lifts Down Town Hockey C’ship

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Srinagar Hockey Club (SHC) lifted the trophy of Down Town Hockey Championship by 2-1 in a close contest with Badal Club.
The final match was played at the Waris Shah Khan Ground inside Kathidarwaza in Srinagar. Twelve teams from the Valley participated in the Championship.
Joint Secretary, Hockey J&K, Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, was the chief guest on the occasion. He presided over the Championship and distributed prizes to the winning team. He encouraged the players to be more and more efficient in sports and improve their game further.
On the occasion, the local audience expressed their disappointment over rough and worst condition of the playground. So that the dignitaries and general public demanded the State Government to provide Astro Turf to improve the Hockey game in the State and to make the future of Hockey more bright.
Also present on the occasion were SHO Rainawari, Aijaz, former hockey player, Yaqoob, Technical Director, Gurdeep Singh, Sheikh Mohd Amin, Rafiq Baba and organising secretary Avtar Singh.
