Sharma takes stock of people’s grievances

KISHTWAR (GALIGARH), May 4: To redress the grievances of the people living in far flung and remote areas of the district Kishtwar, Minister of State for PWD and Revenue Sunil Sharma today chaired a Public Darbar at Government Higher Secondary School Galigarh and inaugurated a newly constructed Panchayat Ghar for Drab Panchayat in Sarthal area that has been constructed by Rural Development Department at cost of Rs. 20 lakh.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javaid Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Yougal Manhas, besides ADDC Kishtwar, ACD Kishtwar, XEn PHE Division Kishtwar, XEn PMGSY, XEn PDD, XEn Irrigation and other District and Sector officers attended the Public Darbar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government is committed for the development of rural areas and efforts are being made to provide all the basic amenities to the people living in remote and far flung areas. He said Government has taken up the initiatives to provide better road connectivity, adequate drinking water and power supply, strengthening and uplifting educational standards and infrastructure in rural areas and improving health care delivery system. He said all the initiatives and measures taken by the Government will take a little time to get visible on ground, and asked the people to have patience and then reap the fruits of development.
Regarding the issue of development of Galigarh as a tourist attraction destination, Minister sought the cooperation of the people and said that they should donate land adjacent to the Galigarh water stream so that it could be developed as a picnic spot which will have Parks, Huts, beautification work etc.
Minister also announced that as demanded by the people of the area, an Extension Ration Sale Depot will be opened by the CA&PD Department so that people don’t have to travel long distance to get ration from the distant ration sale depots. Regarding supply of agriculture seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, Mr. Sharma said that any interested person who wants to open seed centre, fertilizers centre or Pesticide outlet in the area can approach District Administration to get the permission and license to establish the centre/ unit in the area.
On the issue of improvement of health care system in the area Minister said that for the establishment of PHC at Galigarh, Dispensary at Jinvas and Sub-Centre in Trigam area, CMO Doda has been directed to submit feasibility report within two weeks time so that it could be taken up at Ministry level.
Various demands and issues were raised by the people which includes 100 KV transformer for Galigarh, upgradation of roads, posting of adequate staff in schools, renovation and repairs of Sub-Centre Galigarh, payment of pending wages under MGNREGA, immediate upgradation of Shalimar-Sarthal road, upgradation and opening of new schools. Minister gave onspot instructions to the concerned officers to mitigate the genuine grievances on priority basis without any delay.
