AKHNOOR, Mar 27: Senior vice-president JKPCC & former Minister Sham Lal Sharma today visited remote areas Ghar, Chang, Kanerhi and Majoor in Akhnoor and addressed public meetings wherein he expressed serious concern over scarcity of ration and precarious power situation across the State.
Attacking BJP Government, Sham Lal said that the shortage of ration in Jammu region speaks about the insensitivity and callousness of the authorities. “There is shortage of ration, especially Rice, Sugar and Flour in Government depots all across the State.
Earlier, there was no supply of ration from last 2-3 months while nowadays the situation is that ration depots are either empty or providing below 35 kgs ration, which is against the Government guidelines,” he said.
The Congress leader alleged that the then PDP-BJP Government totally failed to sort out the shortfalls in this regard and was now making false claims whereas it failed to provide sugar and ration to the people even as per the existing scales since it came to power.
Sham also expressed concern over complaints about non adherence of power schedule by PDD. “There are complaints that power schedule is not followed on ground. The unscheduled power cuts in areas, both metered and unmetered are a cause of major concern,” he added.
While quoting locals, Sham alleged that the development projects, which had been undertaken in Akhnoor during the previous regime of Congress, were abandoned by the new Government while people were facing problem due to non completion of these developmental works. He also drew attention towards slow progress on preparing Adhar cards as nearly 80 percent of the population was still left out.
Prominent among those, present during the public meeting, included Ram Swaroop, Parmanand Puri, Chuni Lal, Subedar Gian Singh, Subash Chander, Sarpanch Ramesh Lal, Manga Ram, Mohan Lal Sarpanch, Darshan Lal Sarpanch and others.
