Sham inaugurates Water Supply Scheme

RAMBAN, Nov 14: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today inaugurated Water Supply Scheme at Peera besides laying foundation stone for a filtration plant at Batote.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, Chief Engineer A.K. Gandotra, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai, SE Doda Dheraj Singh, Executive Engineer Vijay Kumar and other senior officers of the department.
The water supply scheme of Peera based on a local water resource was completed with a cost of Rs 95. 50 lakh and would benefit over 1000 souls of Peera, Tulang, Sarthi, Chabri and Harijan Basti.
The 15000 GPH filtration plant being established at Batote would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.96 crore benefitting a total of over 5000 population of Batote town. The work of the plant has been divided into different components like intake structure, inlet tank, valve pit, sedimentation tank, chain link fencing, protection walls, Gin Sump tank, lying of gravity etc.
The Minister instructed the officers for early completion of water supply scheme of Batote and also asked them to monitor works of all other major and minor water supply schemes being executed in the district for timely completion.
The Minister reiterated Government’s resolve of providing clean drinking water to all left out areas in the State saying the focus is being laid on completion of all schemes lying incomplete since many years.
During the tour, the Minister also met with public delegations who apprised him of their grievances and issues.
The Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioner to look into the issues raised by the locals for redressal in a time bound manner.
