Sham discusses issues of PHE workers

JAMMU, Aug 26: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary today convened a meeting to discuss the issue of regularization of daily wagers, ITI trained/CP workers, need based and casual labourers.
The Minister asked the officers of the department to remove the variation observed in the number of such workers and prepare a comprehensive list so that their issue of regularization can be taken up with the Finance Department.
The Minister directed the officers of the concerned department to come out with proper record of all the workers rendering their services to department for the last so many years.
Later, the representatives of PHE Workers Welfare Association, Jammu called on the Minister and projected their demands   related to their regularization, hike in minimum wages per day, release of pending wages   and appointment of kin of deceased daily wagers on compassionate grounds.
They further demanded that designations of the workers be changed according to their present assignments, providing sub division wise inspection & load carriers to lift the machinery and creation of higher scale posts of field and operational staff.
The Minister assured them that the Government would discuss their genuine demands at proper forum and proper steps would be taken so that they can get their due.
Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Rajeev Gandotra, Director Finance Jammu Mahesh Chander Sharma and galaxy of officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
