RAJOURI, Nov 15: Senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Mir was unanimously elected as president whereas, Balqees Akhtar as vice president of Municipal Committee, Thanna Mandi.
Several MC members, his supporters and officials present on the occasion congratulated Shakeel Mir for this glorious success on becoming president of MC, Thanna Mandi.
It’s pertinent to mention that Mir who is a senior Congress leader has served as Block president Congress, Thanna Mandi, State secretary JKPCC, Member Pahari Advisory Board J&K Govt twice and a noted social worker of the area who has carved a special niche among the politicians of the area by his dedication, commitment and sense of belongingness among the masses of the area.
Various organisations of area Including Youth Congress, Block Congress Thanna Mandi, Youth for Change, Pahari United Forum, Gujjar Bakerwal Students Forum, Ex -Sarpanches, Ex- Panches, media fraternity, Beopar Mandal, civil society and various other organisations have lauded the election of Shakeel Ahmed Mir as president Municipal Committee Thanna Mandi and have great hopes that Mir will work with great enthusiasm and determination to make Thanna Mandi town a model municipality.
Talking to media Mir said that it’s his official and moral duty as well as responsibility to work for the people of his town and to make Thanna Mandi a model town of district Rajouri in coming days. He further elaborated that the public cooperation is extremely essential for the overall development and prosperity of area in coming days and with the mutual efforts of members of MC Thanna Mandi, chairman and public, an era of development can be seen in Thanna Mandi.
Mir also thanked PCC chief GA Mir, former minister and DCC president Rajouri Shabir Khan and all elected members of MC Thanna Mandi who have shown great faith and supported him.
