Shaheen seeks restoration of utility services in Banihal

JAMMU, Jan 24: National Conference district president Ramban Sajjad Shaheen today visited snow-hit areas of the Banihal constituency and expressed concern over continued blockade of various major link roads due to last week’s heavy snowfall.
Interacting with the affected people, Shaheen slammed the PDP-BJP dispensation for lacking the will to meet the challenges and said that despite over one week, the administration is not to be seen in the snow bound areas. “Not only the road communication has got a major hit, the essentials particularly the foodgrains are out of reach of the people living in remote and hilly areas”, he said, adding that the Government seems to have abdicated its responsibility.
During his tour, carried out on foot due to closure of various roads, various delegations apprised the district president of their problems, complaining that while the power supply is completely erratic in most of the areas, the drinking water supply too has been affected. This has aggravated the problems of the people, he added.
He particularly made a reference of major link roads like Thachi -Amkoot, Trigam, Mahu-Mangit, Batoo-Neel, Maligam-Panchal  and Zaban and said the areas along these remain land-locked due to administrative inertia.
Shaheen sought immediate restoration work in the snow-bound areas and urged the administration to ensure availability of essentials including rations at the CAPD outlets besides drinking water and power supply in the Ramban district.
He visited Makerkote, Ramsoo, Wagan, Chamalwas, Chareel and Tethar along with senior district functionaries.
