Shabir Khan flays GREF for abandoning roads

RAJOURI, Aug 22: Former Minister and MLA Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Khan has strongly criticized the GREF authorities for abandoning work on several roads in district Rajouri, putting people of the area to face hardships.
Addressing public meetings at Thandapani and Dreri in Rajouri constituency, the Congress MLA attacked the GREF authorities for the halt of work on various roads owned by them. He said Rajouri- Thanna Mandi and even Rajouri- Budhal roads are in worst condition. The work on several other roads has also been abandoned by them. He appealed the State Government to take control of these roads so that these roads could be improved.
Mr Khan alleged that despite request to the Chief Engineer concerned in GREF several times, the condition of roads has not been improved. He stressed that completion time should be given for each project.
The MLA also lambasted BJP and PDP for playing complimentary and supplementary to each other in polarizing the electoral battle with common objective of weakening secular forces. He said Congress will defeat the designs of  the communal forces. He warned the people to remain cautious from the communal designs of such parties.
Continuing his mass contact programme, the MLA also reviewed some development works including Dreri-Panjgrain road and water supply scheme being initiated in the area and asked the concerned officers to complete the same in time bound manner. Moulvi Gulzar, block president, Karamat Sheikh, Sofi Saleem, Sarpanch Abdul Qayoom and others also accompanied.
