Sewa Dam oustees hold meeting with SDM, project management

KATHUA, Aug 12: A joint meeting of SDM Bani Ajit Singh , Sewa-2 120 MW Power project NHPC Manager, Om Vir, Ex Deputy Speaker Ghulam Hyder Malik and representatives of Sewa -2 Dam oustees was held at Bani in which various issues regarding the Dam oustees were highlighted and discussed.
While highlighting the issues of dam oustees Ex Deputy Speaker Ghulam Hyder Malik alleged that despite the execution of Sewa -2 Hydel Power Project 15 years ago nearly 136 affected families were not given their rights including the land compensation and job to one family member and other incentives under the area development plan of NHPC.
He said that 147 families of village Gatti and Sitti were affected to raise reservoir of dam. But only 11 families were given their genuine rights and left out families are fighting since years for the job and State land compensation of Rs 56 lakh. Even the CRF of NHPC since 2014 is also not utilized for the development of affected areas. He also believed that the NHPC is generating more power than the limit of 120 mw and no royalty is given to the State. He also demanded free power and water supply to Gatti Sitti village, development of road, lanes and drain and tourism development at Sewa Dam reservoir area at village Sitti.
The NHPC Manager assured them the tourism development, free power and water supply, toilet for villagers and construction of circular road in the village. He has also assured the job to dam oustees in phased manner. The SDM Bani Ajit Singh also asked the NHPC authorities to fulfill the genuine demands of the dam oustees as they are suffering a lot due to discrimination attitude.
He assured the representative of dam oustees to take up the genuine issue with higher authority. In the meeting ex Sarpanch Sushil Thakur and Des Raj were among the representatives of dam oustees.
