Seven more dengue, 3 swine flu cases reported in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 11: Dengue cases in Jammu region have risen to 31 while the number of swine flu cases has reached to seven with one death taking place due to H1N1 virus till today.
“The maximum number of 24 dengue cases has been reported from Jammu district followed by Samba district, which has 2 such cases while one case each has been reported from Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Kathua and Doda districts”, a health official said.
He said that a total of 268 patients were tested for dengue till today out of which 31 cases were found to be positive and reports of 216 were found negative while result of 21 samples are still awaited. “No death has been reported due to Dengue so far”, he added.
Elaborating more, he said that out of 31 Dengue cases, 24 have been reported in Jammu district, two in Samba and one each in Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Doda districts. He further revealed that out of these 31 dengue patients, 25 were adults (17 males and 8 females) and 6 were children (3 males and 3 females).
The official  said that so far Dengue has not claimed any life in Jammu region and most of the patients affected with the disease have returned to their home after successful treatment while out of those who are still under treatment, no one is critical.
He said that number of swine flu cases in Jammu region also rose to 7 with surfacing of three more cases today while the deadly virus has also taken a life till today. He said till date about 46 suspected patients have been tested for H1N1 virus out of which 7 persons have been found positive, 38 negative while the report of one is still awaited.
“Out of 7 positive cases, maximum 4 patients belong to Jammu district; two have been reported from Udhampur while one patient has been detected in Rajouri district”, the official said, adding out of these seven dengue affected people, four are adult (one male and 3 females) and 3 children (2 males and one female).
