Separatists ready for dialogue: Mirwaiz

SRINAGAR, Sept 22:  Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today said that the separatist leadership will extend full support to meaningful dialogue meant to resolve Kashmir issue.
Addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said that all stakeholders need to sit together if Centre wants to resolve Kashmir issue through dialogue.
“If they (Centre) wants to resolve Kashmir issue through dialogue then it is imperative that all stakeholders sit together. And GoI needs to adopt a political approach instead of military policy. If that happens, we will render our full support so that this long pending issue is resolved,” said Mirwaiz.
The Hurriyat chairman said that they want end to hostilities and  better Indo-Pak relations. “We want better relations between India and Pakistan so that all issues, including Kashmir are resolved peacefully”, he said.
Mirwaiz’ readiness for dialogue comes a day after Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Madhav said here that Centre is ready for unconditional dialogue with separatists in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz expressed serious concern over the growing social evils in the society terming it hazardous for the Kashmir as a conservative society if not prevented on time. He said in every area, in coloration with the local Masjids and area elders, a social reform campaign has to be started to ensure social evils are eradicated from the society before the situation turns ugly.
And a spontaneous shutdown was observed in Tral Town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district to mourn the civilian killings in yesterday’s grenade attack on cavalcade of R&B Minister Naeem Akhtar.
Two civilians including a Sikh girl were killed while around 30 persons including security forces men were injured in a powerful grenade attack at Tral town yesterday on Naeem’s motorcade who, however, escaped unhurt. All the shops, commercial establishments and educational institutes were closed in Tral today spontaneously while roads were deserted as transport was also off the roads.
A police official said the security was tightened across Tral today but the situation remained peaceful and no incident of violence was reported. Meanwhile, hundreds of people visited the residences of the deceased persons and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families. Meanwhile, Friday congregational prayers were offered at Jama Masjid here in Nowhatta today after two weeks.
Authorities unlike past two Fridays did not impose any restrictions in old city area of the summer capital here. Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers weekly sermons at Jama Masjid, was also not placed under house arrest. The congregational prayers at Jama Masjid concluded peacefully but stone-throwing clashes erupted later between youths and security forces in mosque compound.
