Senior CPI leader seeks Prez’s intervention on situation in J&K

BHUBANESHWAR: Describing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as insecure Senior CPI leader and party’s National Secretary Atul Kumar Anjan today sought the intervention of the President before the situation went out of control.

Mr Anjan who was here to attend a seminar organized to observe the 20th death anniversary of Legendary leader Biju Patnaik said the constitution has given adequate power to the President and  he (the President ) should exercise it.

The CPI leader said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has worsened day by day and the Indo-Pak border has become insecure particularly after the BJP and the PDP alliance assumed power in the valley. In 2016 as many as 86 Indian soldiers were killed in the border, he said adding that in Moori sector around three dozen defence personnel including some officers were killed.

Mr. Anjan said although the State Government arrested three persons in connection with the incident but they were later released as the National Investigation Team could not file charge sheet against them. (AGENCIES)
