Semis lineup drawn in State Hockey Championship

JAMMU, Mar 26: Deputy Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi today said sports are essential in everyone’s life especially for students as these bring physical and mental fitness to the person. Everyone should involve in the sports activity even if it is for a small time, he added.
Deputy Speaker was speaking at the ongoing State Hockey Championship 2017 being organized by Hockey J&K in association with J&K State Sports Council at KK Hakku Stadium.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker said that hockey is pride of the nation and that it is heartening to note the enthusiasm of the state’s youth in the game. “I’m pleased to know about the large scale participation from all the districts of J&K in the State Championship”, he added.
Gurezi congratulated the organizers for organizing the tournament and hoped it will continue to hold such events in future too.
Rajinder Singh Senior Vice President, Gurdeep Singh, Secretary General along with other prominent members from Hockey J&K were present on the occasion.
With today’s wins BSF Kashmir and J&K Police Central Hockey team sealed berth in the semifinals and joined BSF Jammu and Jammu Rural in the last four stages.
In the first match played today, BSF Kashmir defeated District Rajouri by four goals to one (4-1), while in another match J&K Police Central Hockey team thrashed District Samba by (4-0).
Now, in the semifinals, J&K Police Hockey team will take on BSF Jammu at 1 pm, while Jammu Rural will face BSF Kashmir at 3 pm.
Today’s matches were officiated by MS Reen, Satvir Singh, Karanjit Singh, Iqbal Singh, Joginder Singh, Senapati and Vijay Vaid.
