Semis line-up drawn in Inter-Collegiate Badminton Tournament

JAMMU, Oct 1: Semis line-up drawn in Inter Collegiate Badminton Tournament (Men and Women), organized by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall here today.
In Women section, the first quarterfinal match was played between PG Department and GCW Udhampur, in which former emerged winner by 2-0 and sailed into the semifinal stage, which will be played tomorrow. In single, Akansha Raina of PG Department defeated Shipalika Rajput of GCW Udhampur by 21-04 scores. In doubles, Akansha and Prabjot of PG Department smashed Shipalika and Shriya of GCW Udhampur by 21-04 score.
In the second quarterfinal match, GDC Billawar crushed GDC Kathua by 2-0 and registered berth in the semis. In Single, Pooja Sharma of GDC Billawar beat Neha Choudhary by 21-17 score, whereas in doubles, Pooja and Monika smashed Neha and Preeti of GDC Kathua by 21-18 score.
In the third quarterfinal match, GGM Science College registered win over GDC Kathua by 2-0. In singles, Diksha Mahajan beat Simran of GDC Kathua by 21-04 score, whereas in doubles, Diksha and Sonali of GGM Science College outclassed Simran and Nisha by 21-10 score.
GCW Gandhi Nagar outplayed MBS College by straight 2-0 in the fourth quarterfinal match and entered into the semis of the tournament. In Single, Suvidha Khajuria beat Incia of MBS College by 21-08 score, whereas in doubles, Savidha and Pratibha of GCW Gandhi Nagar crushed Jasleen and Ritika by 21-19 score.
In men Section, Law School outclassed GDC Doda 3-0 in the first quarterfinal match. In first single, Chander Dev of Law School beat Vikas by 21-03 score and in second single, Anurag routed Deepak of GDC Doda by 21-05 score. In doubles, Chander and Akeel beat Vikas and Deepak of GDC Doda by 21-19 score.
In second quarterfinal match, GDC Samba defeated GDC Rajouri by 3-0. In first single, Rajinder beat Sahil of GDC Rajouri by 21-10 score, whereas in second single, Jitesh of GDC Samba smashed Israr Ahmed by 21-14 score. In doubles, Jitesh and Rajinder crushed Sahil and Paramveer of GDC Rajouri by 21-07 score.
GDC Kathua beat GGM Science College by 3-0 in the third quarterfinal match and registered berth in the semis. In first single, Avishek of GDC Kathua defeated Akash by 21-07 score, whereas in second single, Rohit Verma beat Ashank of GGM Science College by 21-08 score. In doubles, Avishek and Rohit of GDC Kathua crushed Ashank and Vishal by 21-11 score.
In the fourth quarterfinal match, MAM College crushed GDC Hiranagar by 3-1. In first Single, Arjun of MAM College beat Mohit by 21-17 score and in the second single, Rohit of GDC Hiranagar equalized the score by defeating Nikhil of MAM College by 21-17 score. In the third single, Irfan of MAM College beat Gourav by 21-13 score. In Doubles, Arjun and Irfan beat Mohit and Gourav 21-08 score.
The matches were officiated by Vikram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Rakesh Verma and Amit Sharma.
