JAMMU, Jan 21: A seminar on State Geographical Information System was organized by ESRI India in association with their authorized partner for J&K, Innovative Systel, here today.
Manoj Tiwari, Zonal Head ESRI India formally inaugurated the session during which various presentations were made on State GIS by technical experts from ESRI.
The seminar was attended by high ranking officers from the Government Departments like J&K Forests, Remote Sensing, Pollution Control Board, Revenue Department, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, J&K ERA, JDA, Tourism, Town Planning Organization, PHE, Irrigation, etc. Senior Professors from Jammu University, SMVDU and SKUAST, Jammu & Srinagar also attended this seminar.
Rominder Singh Bedi, Business Manager, Innovative Systel, informed that GIS technology from ESRI was already being used by a few departments and educational institutions in J&K but still there was a vast scope of GIS applications in management of urban areas and remote & hilly regions of our State.
The various speakers from different departments and universities shared their experiences and research works with the gathering during the seminar.
Mr Bedi, added that this event is going to be an annual event in the City of Temples for the next few years and Innovative Systel along with ESRI India would be striving hard to implement these software in the various departments of the State.
