Seminar on “Economics of Make in India” begins at SMVDU

KATRA, Sept 29: Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi today inaugurated the 2-Day national seminar on “Economics of Make in India” at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
The seminar has been organized by School of Economics, Faculty of Management in collaboration with the Indian Economic Association.
While delivering her inaugural speech, Priya Sethi said the novel initiative of ‘Make in India’ launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi would be a boon for the county’s economy and would give much needed boost to the Indian job market. She said over 10 million jobs would be created in the country and the focus would be to manufacture world class products in the country.
She said presently the market is flooded with imported products and the initiative would focus on replacing imports with exports, adding that aim is to increase export potential of domestic products and reduce reliance on the imported goods.
“Our country has a huge manufacturing potential and we have to make efforts that ‘Made in India’ products are of high quality so that our country becomes preferred destination for foreign investment,” she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, emphasized on the real meaning of Make in India.
Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur, IEA General Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. Ashutosh Sareen, Vice President, J & K Bank, Dr. Deepti Taneja, Public Relation Officer of Indian Economics Association, Prof.  V. K. Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Management also addressed the gathering.
Prof. Sukhdev Panda, Prof. Devendra Avesthi, Prof. B. P Chandramohan, Prof.  Deepankar Sengupta and all Deans, Directors faculty members of SMVDU attended the seminar.
