JAMMU, Sept 1: Bus-stand police arrested a self styled ‘baba’ and his associate for during people of their hard earned money on the pretext of curing their miseries.
As per police sources, Bus-stand police received around 8 complaints regarding cheating by a self styled ‘baba’ and his associate on the pretext of curing the miseries of the complainants.
Acting on the complaints, police team from Bus-stand police station conducted a raid in Trikuta Complex at BC Road and nabbed the self styled ‘baba’ and his associate.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Irfan, son of Noor Mohammad alias Sufi Aladin Ajmer Wale Baba, a resident of Dulana, District Hapur, Uttar Pradesh and his associate Mohammad Shamim, S/o Mohd Nanya, resident of New Delhi.
The self styled ‘baba’ claimed to possess supernatural powers and has cheated large number of people here. He used to rotate earthen pot on a glass by using silk thread and make the public to believe that it rotates by some spiritual power.
He duped people of their hard earned money by promising them of ending their miseries related to love affair, matrimonial disputes and family problems with the supernatural powers, he claimed to be possessing.
A case under FIR Number 43/15 under Section 420 RPC has been registered against the trickster and his associate at Bus-Stand police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bus-stand police station Inspector Paramjit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP City Perbeet Singh Parihar, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
