SEC approves relief in favour of 20,000 affected farmers

SRINAGAR, May 25: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today chaired the meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Principal Secretary, Home and Administrative Secretaries of the departments of Health & Medical Education, H&UD, PW (R&B), Revenue, Additional DGP, Home Guards, Director Disaster Management and other officers were present in the meeting.
In a significant decision, the Committee approved the disbursement of ex gratia as per the SDRF norms in favour of over 20,000 farmers, whose crops were damaged in hailstorm and torrential rains during the years 2015 and 2016, with further directions that the amount be deposited directly into their bank accounts.
The Executive Committee also approved the proposal for community disaster preparedness, stock piling of emergency equipment at the district level and organising various capacity building programmes at the divisional and the district level for an amount of Rs 4.14 crore.
