KATHUA, Feb 3: Police and paramilitary forces today conducted a joint combing operation in the border belt of Hiranagar along the banks of river Ujh after the reports of some suspects surfaced on the bank of river Ujh in Nagri area here early this morning.
The people reported the matter to Police Post Ujh which flashed the message to higher authorities and soon the joint team of police and paramilitary forces was rushed to the spot for the combing operations in the area.
The orders for joint combing operations were issued by SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary and besides the Police, the jawans of CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) were pressed into services.
The combing operations were started from Ujh river in Raj Bagh area and entire belt of river and forests in Salalpur, Chabey Chak, Kore Punnu and Nagri were searched. However, there was no clue of any suspect except the search teams found five capsules of Comed of orange colour from the spot where the suspects were seen by people.
Police said it is trying to find out what is the actual description of capsules. They were handed over to Nagri Police post for further investigation.
The combing operations were led by Additional SP Kathua, Sanjay Parihar who was accompanied by DySP Border, Raghubir Singh, Dy SP Operation ,Rakesh Parihar, SHO Rajbagh, Sarabjeet Singh and other police officers.
Meanwhile, panic gripped the border belt following the reports of movement of suspects in the area in view of the recent infiltration bid made from across the border. According to sources, the Ujh basin is considered an old route of infiltration and movement of militants towards Doda and Udhampur.
