Search Panel for VC to meet stakeholders

JAMMU, May 23:  The Search Committee constituted for appointment of new Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University, shall have interaction with the various stakeholders of the university on May 28 and 29.
Besides holding interaction with the university Faculty members, officers, Non-Teaching and Non-Gazetted employees, Class Represe-ntatives, Department Represen-tatives and Cultural Secretaries, the Search Committee Members shall also visit the campus.
As per the scheduled in this regard, prepared by Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Secretary Search Committee, the interaction with Campus Deans, HoDs, Rectors, Director of Offsite Campuses, heads of Centres and Central Facilities shall be held on May 28 (Monday) from 11 am to 12.30 pm.
On the same day, the Search Committee Members shall interact with all Professors, Associate Professors and two senior most Assistant Professors of the each department from 12.30 pm to 2 pm. This will be followed by interaction with the university officers from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
On May 29, the Search Committee shall interact with office bearers of JUTA, JU Officers Association, JU Non-Teaching Employees Association and JU Non-Gazetted Employees Union from 10 am to 11 am while interaction with the Cultural Secretaries, DRs and CRs will be held from 11 am to 12 noon.
After the series of interactions at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, the Search Committee Members shall visit the campus on May 29 from 12 noon to 1 pm.
Pertinent to mention that May 25 is the last date for submission of applications by the aspirants for the post of Vice-Chancellor. More than one hundred aspirants have so far submitted their application. These aspirants also included several senior Professors from Jammu University, different varsities of the State and other parts of the country, sources said.
It may be recalled that in February 27 of this year, Governor N N Vohra, who is Chancellor of Jammu University as well as Kashmir University, had formally told the already existing Screening Committee for KU to also search for new VC of JU.
This Search Committee is headed by Prof D P Aggarwal, former Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Other members of the Search Committee are;  Prof  Sayed Ehtesham Hasnain, the current VC of the Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi and Prof Vijay Gupta, the Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University, Noida.
Three-year tenure of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma had expired on April 12 following which the Chancellor asked him to continue till the appointment of new VC.
