JAMMU, Oct 18: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Akhnoor Sunaina Mehta today noticed sale of crackers on highly exorbitant rates and issued directions for marking of exact rates on the packets.
The SDM inspected large number of stalls of crackers in the town and its periphery and noticed sale on exorbitant rates. She observed huge variation in the original price of the crackers and the cost marked on the packets.
She warned the stall owners to desist from this practice immediately otherwise action as warranted under law would be taken against them. The SHO Police Station Akhnoor and Executive Officer Municipal Committee Akhnoor were asked to ensure that people are not cheated by the owners of these stalls.
The SDM also directed Fire and Emergency Services Department to take all necessary precautions in the areas where stalls of the crackers have been installed to ensure safety and security.
She also inspected various shops and business establishments in the town. One sweet shop at Dasgal was found in unhygienic condition and Food Inspector was directed to take appropriate action in this regard.
However, most of the sweet shops in Akhnoor were found in good condition.
