JAMMU, Jan 1: Pargwal unit of Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations today held a meeting at Pargwal and decided to join the gherao of State Assembly on January 16, proposed by the State unit of the Confederation to press for their demands.
A large number of social and religious people along with panchs, sarpanchs and unemployed youth attended the meet, which was presided over by State president, Barwala Sabha, Beru Ram. State president of the Confederation, RK Kalsotra, was the chief guest.
Addressing the meet, Kalsotra expressed great resentment on Government’s negative approach towards the demands of the Confederation which include restoration of reservation in promotions, clearing backlog of vacancies through special recruitment drives, waiver of admission fees for students belonging to eligible SC/ST/OBC poor students and implementation of 27% reservation for OBCs.
Stating on the issue, Beru Ram expressed anguish over the casual manner in which the Government has taken the charter of demands submitted by the Confederation. He appealed the participants to travel village to village for making people aware about the scheduled ghereao of State Assembly.
