Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 2: The RS Pura unit of Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations today held a meeting at Kullian in RS Pura and discussed the strategy to join the gherao of State Assembly on January 16 to press for their demands.
A large number of social and religious people along with panches, sarpanches and unemployed youth attended the meet. The meeting was chaired by State president of the Confederation, RK Kalsotra.
Addressing the meet, Kalsotra, stated that Confederation’s struggle is for poor students of the SC/ST/OBC who were not able to continue their study due to not getting timely scholarships. He said that poor educated youth of these communities are not getting Government jobs because Government is not fulfilling a huge backlog of vacancies in SC/ST/OBC categories.
He said that their struggle is for poor farmer and labourers for whom SCP/STP are not being fully utilized and mostly diversion of their funds to general schemes is taking place. “Government has totally failed in protecting their own Reservation Promotion laws. They are giving 2% Reservation instead of 27% to OBC”, Kalsotra added.
Tehsil president, Darshan Banmotra in his address, appealed the leaders of the Tehsil to come forward to pressurize the Government to get back rights for poor SC/ST/OBC. All the speakers unanimously resolved that as no option is available, Confederation is left with ‘Resorting to protests” and they all support the gherao of Assembly on January 16.
