JAMMU, Sept 27: J&K SC, ST & BC Development Corporation Limited has launched a new scheme for Disabled Soldiers and their dependents in collaboration with National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC).
This was announced today in a press conference addressed by Balbir Ram Rattan, Vice Chairperson of the Corporation along with RK Pandita, Managing Director of the Corporation, at its Head Office, Jammu.
The Vice-Chairman said that a new scheme exclusively for disabled soldiers and their disabled dependents is being introduced by the Corporation in the state after its launching by National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC), Department of Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Balbir said that the scheme is for self- employment of persons of uniformed services (serving/retired) from Armed forces (Army/Navy/Air Force/CRPF/Police and their dependent relative who is a Person with Disability (PwD).
“In order to inculcate the spirit of self confidence among such disabled soldiers through self-employment and utilize their honesty and courage gained through past employment, the Corporation proposes to provide them credit on concessional rate of interest, to set-up self-employment ventures costing upto Rs 25 lakh with no income criteria”, he added.
Balbir said that disabled soldiers/dependent relatives of soldiers, who are permanent resident of J&K having disability of 40% and above can avail the loan. “He or she should be 18 years and above and have obtained a NoC/recommendation from appropriate office of uniformed service/ forces etc. from where they served last”, he said, adding, the maximum loan limit is Rs 25 lakh with 4-7% rate of interest per annum.
The MD of the Corporation informed that there is also a provision of pre-training in the scheme, if required for successful running of proposed activity/unit and 100% cost of training (maximum Rs 10,000) exclusive stipend as per prevailing norms shall be provided by the NHFDC, New Delhi.
“For obtaining loan by eligible disabled soldiers and disabled dependent relatives of soldiers, application in the prescribed format is to be submitted to concerned district office of the Corporation, for sanction of loan”, he informed.
Financial Advisor/CAO, Vijay Kumar Tak, Manager Projects, Mohd Iqbal Kataria and Divisional Manager (Jammu), Gulam Qadir Khatana, were also present in the press conference.
