Scrapping Ins scheme is no solution

Sir,
A lot is presently being written about unfortunately ill conceived just scrapped Reliance Health Insurance scheme for Government employees and retired personnel of the state issued with a lot of fanfare. There were a lot of expectations in spite of huge gap in premium amount of working and retired employees. Hardly any thought seems to have been given to the pay ranges within employees and pay ranges within pensioners. Should ‘not there have been any difference between the highest and low paid employees. Accordingly no difference was kept between lower and higher range of pensions. Is it transparency of the administration? And we are talking of corruption free society and public friendly policy. I am constrained to say it, with pain accepted the fact that there is more vulnerability in retired people of health problems yet reasonability of amount of premium should have been seen. Scrapping is not a solution. Authorities may find an alternative keeping in view that every one has to incur huge expenditure on day to day medicine requirements besides huge consultation and lab test charges. Authorities may very kindly look into the all aspects of some reasonably realistic policy with good referral hospitals. In case the authorities fully decide not to pursue the fresh insurance scheme at this stage, they may please issue necessary instructions to the Drawing Officers / Banks to credit back the first installment of the premium amount back to the account holders.
