SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Contractual employees working under Centre’s Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) today staged a protest and sought ‘sympathetic consideration’ from Government similar to those of dailywagers and casual labourers.
Scores of SBM employees assembled at press enclave here and shouted slogans in favour of their demands which include continuation of their services. The SBM employees said besides performing their legitimate duties, they have been supporting various Government departments.
“We the contractual employees of SBM appeal Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Education Minister Altaf Bukhari, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu that on the pattern of casual labourers and dailywagers, our case may also be taken into consideration as we are highly qualified and have good skills and well experienced,” they said.
It is requested to the Government that a sympathetic consideration should be given to the matter of educated youths working under the SBM so that the worries and anxieties are set to rest,” they demanded and threatened protests if Government ignores their plea.
