Sat inaugurates Pencak Silat C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 2: Pencak Silat Association of J&K introduced Pencak Silat in Jammu and organized an event for 1st District Jammu Pencak Silat championship at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
The event is being organized in the memory of Late DK Mahajan.
BJP State President & MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who inaugurated the event in an impressive and well attended function. Ranjeet Kalra Vice-Chairman, District Jammu Sports Council was the guest of honour on the occasion. Arvind Gupta, BJP State Treasurer, Nalin Mahajan, Gourav Arora President (PSAJK) and Navneet Mahajan,  Son of late DK Mahajan also graced the occasion.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the participants and the gathering on the occasion, said that the introduction of new sports event is always a welcome step to promote sports culture in the society.
Sat Sharma also correlated it to the safety of women in society, he said that while we are promoting “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” in society, we must also promote the girls to learn these type of arts for their self defence, as they can go a long way in their security in certain hostile conditions and help in reducing the number of atrocities against them.
Navneet Mahajan distributed Pencak Silat uniform among the students.
In this championship, more than 200 students of various schools and clubs are taking part and the Championship will continue for two days.
