Sat distributes LPG connections among BPL women

JAMMU, July 22: With a mission to accomplish the target of improving the lifestyle of the BPL (Below Poverty Line) families, BJP MLA from Jammu West Constituency, Sat Sharma distributed free LPG connections to the women beneficiaries of Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna at Pacca Talab area of Ward 17.
The MLA was accompanied by a large number of people including local residents as well as social and political activists of the area. More than 40 connections were distributed in the program held at Pacca Talab in Sarwal area of Jammu West Assembly segment.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that this initiative, in line with creating smokeless areas across the country, has come as a moment of pride for the women in BPL households for getting LPG connection as an identity of their own and to lead a smoke-free, less polluted, convenient and healthy life.
He said under the scheme, the enrolment of the BPL families have been made constituency wise all over the State and the deserving people shall be given free LPG connections along with a gas stove and a regulator.
Providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas, he said, adding that this measure will empower women and protect their health by reducing the labour and time spent on cooking.
Adding further MLA said that it is indeed a great initiative taken up by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which today has resulted into benefitting over nine crore families across the nation. He said the humanitarian view of our Prime Minister has led to this vision which has resulted into improvement of life style of majority of BPL families in India.
He said that in the coming days remaining BPL families in Jammu West constituency will be traced ward wise and a list of women will be prepared so that the benefit of ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ could also be given to them.
