MENDHAR, June 17: Several Sarpanchs and Panchs from various areas of Mendhar, Mankote and Balakote today sat relay hunger strike.
The Sarpanchs led by Ch Showkat Ahmed launched indefinite dharna/ hunger strike at Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar in support of major public demands. These people alleged that public of the area is not being provided adequate ration, many MNREGA workers have remained unpaid for the last about two years, most of the development works have been stopped in the sub division, there are many discrepancies BPL lists and administration has failed to provided adequate water and power supply besides ensure cleanliness in Mendhar town.
They were carrying banners/ placards in their hands projecting demands. They claimed that relay hunger strike would be continued till their demands are addressed.
