SAMBA, May 9: Majority of the Sarpanches and Panches from four blocks of district Samba today boycotted the programme held under NRHM by the State Health department at the district headquarters here today.
This programme was attended by Health Minister Sham Lal and Minister for Industry and Commerce, Surjit Singh Slathia besides MLA Dugra Dass from Hiranagar.
In the meeting held on Tuesday at Samba, the Sarpanches from all the blocks including Ghagwal, Samba, Vijaypur and Purmandal resolved to boycott the Government function to lodge their protest. They are demanding full powers and adequate funds for the development of Panchayats. Leaving a few from Purmandal block, majority of the Sarpanches and Panches stayed away from the function today.
