Sarpanch sent to 5 days judicial remand

KATHUA, Aug 27: The first Class Judicial Magistrate, Hira Nagar today rejected the bail application of Sarpanch, Chilak Govind Ram and sent him to five days judicial remand to Sub Jail Hiranagar for manhandling a Village Level Worker.
Seeing the gravity of the situation, the Court rejected the bail application of Sarpanch who was involved along with another Sarpanch of Hiranagar tehsil Yash Paul in manhandling a VLW on July 17 during an official meeting at Parnoli and snatching the official records form his possession.
However the Yash Paul is still absconding and Hiranagar Police which has filed a FIR against the duo on the basis of a written complaint lodged in the Police Station by Rural Development Department has launched a man hunt for him also.
Meanwhile, the employees of BDO Office Kathua continued their strike for the second consecutive day today demanding immediate arrest of Sarpanch Dalip Singh who had manhandled a S. O of the Office on last Friday and snatched the official records from him. Though FIR has been lodged by Kathua Police against the Sarpanch on the basis of complaint filed by employees of BDO’s Office, the Sarpanch is still at large. The employees of the other BDO offices of the district today also joined protest and warned to continue strike till the Sarpanch is put behind the bars.
To take the stock of the situation arising after the repeated manhandling of Rural Development employees by Sarpanchs in the district, the District Development Commissioner, Kathua Jitender Singh convened a meeting of BDOs of all blocks of the district today which was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Development.
