JAMMU, July 30: A delegation of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust led by its president Mahant Rohit Shastri met Rajya Sabha Member Shamsher Singh Manhas for setting up Sanskrit Departments in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University  (SMVDU) and Central Universities of Jammu and Kashmir to provide a platform facilitating education and research in the field of this ancient and culturally rich language, today.
The delegation apprised the MP about the scholars and teachers working in the field of Sanskrit language and added that they don’t get enough opportunities and exposure to enhance their knowledge in the field.
They said that “Jammu is known as the city of temples but the students pursuing studies in Sanskrit and aspiring to have career in this field have to suffer on account of dearth of facilities and ample opportunities” Trust said.
The Trust president appealed Shamsher Singh to introduce exclusive department in, SMVDU and CUJ&K for promoting Sanskrit language and facilitating aspirations who want to learn and excel through pursuing studies in this language.
Shastri request MP  to raise the issue of deteriorating condition of Sanskrit language in Rajya Sabha and make it compulsory from 6th standard in schools so that more number of scholars get appointed in schools and new carrier opportunities are opened up for them.
The MP assured the delegation that he will put their demands and request before State as well as Centre Government for its early implemantation.
Present on the occasion were Dr Chander Mouli Raina,  Pt Dev Dutt Shastri, Pt Nittin Shastri, BJP district Rural Kissan Morcha, president, Ravi Sharma, Manish Jamwal, Ajay Sharma  and others.
