BUDGAM, Apr 22: Expressing dismay over the venomous statements being dished out by some BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said such utterances have to be viewed more seriously than mere police cases or violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as these could have ruinous consequences.
“The virulent statements of BJP leader Giriraj Kishore and VHP leader Praveen Togadia, are loaded with communal intrigue which could not only destabilize the country but have the potential of hitting at the very idea of India,” Sayeed said while addressing election rallies in Beerwa Assembly segment of Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency. Cautioning that such spiteful utterances could cost the country very heavy, Sayeed said the polarization of people on religious and ethnic lines could have worse consequences than festering sore of subcontinent’s partition which led to an unending cycle of human misery and destruction.
Condemning the latest spate of innocent killings at Tral, Sayeed said after witnessing a relaxation in security environment for a brief period between 2002 and 2005, unfortunately the people of Kashmir have again got entangled in a vicious circle of death and destruction with the arrival of NC-Congress coalition regime. He expressed his deep grief at the loss of innocent lives and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to their families.
Dubbing the present Government as a misfortune for the State, PDP patron said the people of J&K seem to have become the victims of the ungoverned rage let loose on them by the present Government.
Claiming that PDP-led Coalition Government from 2002 to 2005 provided a sense of security to the people, Mufti said that if voted to power in 2014, PDP would work towards implementing its unaccomplished agenda of securing peace, stability and prosperity for Jammu & Kashmir.
Referring to Tosamaidan issue, Sayeed said the meadow should be got vacated from the Army and developed as a tourist resort given its picturesque location.
Ongoing polls are a testing time for the people of J&K as they would be not just be electing their representatives for Parliament but chalking out a new political and economic course of action for the State, he said.
