UDHAMPUR, Sept 6: Sambhavi Mahajan from Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public School Udhampur bagged first position in the Inter-School Seminar on the topic “Need for measures to stop female foeticide”, as part of Science mela held at Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys), here.
Mohd Raqib from GHSS, boys and Renu Sharma from AOC HSS, Udhampur bagged the 2nd and 3rd position in the event respectively.
The function was organized by the District Science and Technology Council Office, Udhampur
Minister of State for Science & Technology, Feroz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest on the valedictory cum prize distribution ceremony.
The department organized a series of Science and Technology activities like inter school debate, essay writing and seminar on topics ” should we ban drug trial on animals” “Conservation of Biodiversity” and “need for measures to stop female foeticide” etc .
While in the event of debate contest, Shrishti Mishra from DPS, Shvina Akhter from DAV HSS and Paras Dubey from MHS secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In essay writing competition, Rohit Koul from GHSS, Boys adjudged best essay writer in the contest besides 2nd and 3rd positions went in favour of Ishita Nargotra from DPS and Uzma Khatoon from GHSS, girls, Udhampur.
While speaking on the occasion, Khan divulged that the objective of organizing such activities especially for the student community is to provide an opportunity to share and exchange their views for promotion of scientific knowledge.
District Coordinator Science and Technology Council, Udhampur, Sunita Razdan presented vote of thanks.
Among others MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Chenani, K.C. Bhagat, Joint Director Science & Technology, Mustaq Ahmed Bhat, SP, Udhampur, Sukhdev Basin, District Coordinator Science & Technology Council, Udhampur, Sunita Razdan, Chief Education Officer, Principal of the host school, staff member and large number of students from various schools were present on the occasion.
