Samba police arrests two drug peddlers, seizes over one kg poppy straw

SAMBA, Apr 19: Samba Police has arrested two drug peddlers after seizing 650 and 580 grams of poppy straw from them during a naka checking on border road Samba today.
A police party of Police Post Rakh Ambtali laid a naka checking on border road Samba and intercepted two pedestrians. The police during their frisking recovered 650 and 850 grams of poppy straw from their possession respectively. The duo was identified as Jagnandan Singh, S/o Parbhat Singh of Pakwal Kullina teshil and district Gurdaspur Punjab presently at Raipur Camp in Samba district and Dev Raj S/o Shonku Ram R/o Raipur Tehsil and District Samba.
Both of the drug peddlers were arrested on the spot along with the contraband items and in this regard case FIR No. 80/2017 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is taken up.
It may be recalled that Samba Police has tightened its noose on drug peddlers during last two months and is laying surprise naka to nab them.  The drive has been launched on the directives of SSP Samba Anil Magotra.
Today’s drive was held under the close supervision of incharge Dy SP Samba Hqrs. The police party was headed by incharge PP Rakh Ambtalli.
Meanwhile Samba Police has arrested one absconder namely Alam Din S/o Hazi Babbi R/o Chack Manga Gujran who was evading arrest since long and was involved in case FIR No. 129/2015 U/S 366/376/342//109 RPC of P/S Samba. However he was released on bail and warrant U/S 512 Cr. PC was disposed off.
