SAMBA, July 10: Samba Police today arrested a notorious criminal who was involved in drug peddling, bovine smuggling and cattle theft posing a grave threat to peace and brotherhood in the area.
A police team of Police Station, Samba led by Inspector, Chanchal Singh, SHO P/S Samba under the supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Headquarters, Samba apprehended one notorious drug peddler namely Mohammad Hussain, S/o Lal Hussain, R/o Manohar Gopala Tehsil & district Samba.
Police said he is a hardcore criminal involved in number of NDPS/bovine smuggling/cattle theft cases in the district. His arrest has been a part of continuous drive launched against the drug menace and bovine smuggling in the district under the overall supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba.
Police said that being a hardcore criminal Hussain is master mind behind all organized crime in the district like bovine smuggling, cattle theft, property related crime and besides being a main supplier of drugs. He introduced drugs in district Samba. He was wanted in many NDPS cases by district police Samba. A total of 11 cases have been registered against him under various heads in the district, police added.
Police said to arrest him, teams were constituted and sent so many times out of the State and to Kashmir Valley but he remained successful in giving slip to police parties every time.
Police said to put an end to the criminal activities of the said drug peddler/bovine smuggler, the police team so constituted after making hectic efforts apprehended him from Basanter area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. The drug peddler/bovine smuggler was posing a serious threat to the health and welfare of the people in general and youth in particular and was expanding his network to ruin the future of young generation besides creating wedge between two communities by virtue of his illegal acclivities of bovine smuggling due to which the sentiments of a particular community were being hurt posing great threat to peace and tranquillity in the district. His activities could rise to any extent if he was allowed to go scot free.
Samba police made use of all available sources and succeeded in cracking the information regarding his presence in Samba area, and apprehended him from Basanter area of Samba. With the arrest of this hardcore criminal/drug peddler/bovine smuggler, the people of the area had a sigh of relief.
