SaMaPa Aalap music concert concludes

SRINAGAR, Mar 26: The 10-days SaMaPa music festival organized by Sopori Music and Performing Arts (SaMaPa)  concluded with a grand musical concert held at Kashmir University today . The music festival commenced on March 16 and several concerts were held at different places across the Valley.
The Divisional Commissi-oner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest on the occasion.
Among others,  Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director School Education, Dr Shah Faesal and Abhay Rustum Sopori among others  were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said that the Government is keen to revive the rich cultural heritage of the State and that music is part of Kashmiri culture. He said Government will provide every possible support to the music and fine arts for preparing the youth to compete on international platforms.
Divisional Commissioner further stated that the programs like SaMaPa will help the younger generation to be acquainted with the local traditional music.
Many local and non local singers performed during the event and left the audience spellbound by their performances. The audience including students, faculty members of the University and other colleges besides senior district officers witnessed the classical, Kashmiri, Sufi, Ghazal and other traditional songs.
Many students of the University also performed in the concert which was appreciated by the audience.
On the occasion, the organizers said that the main aim of the festival is to take music to the masses and identify local talent and to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the State.
