JAMMU, Apr 13: Senior Advocate B S Salathia has been elected as new president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
The election for the posts of office bearers of the Bar Association was held yesterday and the results were declared late in the night due to time consumed in counting of votes. A total of 1611 votes were polled out of 1882.
According to Advocate Abhinav Sharma, former President of the Bar Association, who acted as Returning Officer, Senior Advocate B S Salathia secured 829 votes to win the presidential chair. The other contenders for the post namely Advocate SK Shukla secured 568 votes, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed secured 191 and Advocate KS Parihar secured 23 votes respectively.
Advocate Sachin Gupta secured 668 votes and was declared elected for the post of Vice President. The other contenders for the post namely Advocate Yaseer Ejaz Tak secured 363, Advocate JP Nanda secured 250 votes, Advocate Deewakar Sharma secured 172 votes, Advocate Ajay Gandotra secured 116 votes and Advocate Ajay Singh Kotwal secured 402 votes.
Advocate Prem was elected as general secretary and he secured 689 votes. His rivals Abisekh Wazir and Vinod Saini secured 668 and 253 votes respectively.
Advocate Himanshu Sharma emerged as winner for the post of joint secretary by securing 634 votes whereas Advocate Aditya Sharma secured 562 votes, Advocate Zahida Parveen secured 362 and Srishti Pal Mengi secured 34 votes.
Advocate Chetan Misri has been elected as cashier of the Bar Association. He secured 938 votes against his rival Advocate Jasleen Kour, who secured 659 votes.
