Sajjad Lone’s party gets election symbol ‘Table’

JAMMU, Oct 30: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has allotted symbols to Sajjad Lone’s Jammu Kashmir People Conference among two registered but unrecognized political parities in the State for the scheduled Assembly elections.
A common election symbol `Table’ has been allotted to Jammu and Kashmir People Conference while a lesser known All Jammu and Kashmir Liberal Democratic Party has been allotted common election symbol `Carpet’.
This was conveyed to the Chief Electoral Officer J&K by the Election Commission of India.
The People Conference has been allotted election symbol `Table’ for 32 Assembly constituencies in Kashmir Valley while All Jammu Kashmir Liberal Democratic Party has got the election symbol `Carpet’ for all the 87 Assembly segment in the State.
ECI has directed that these symbols may not be allotted to any other candidates in these segments by oversight. However, these symbols shall be available for allotment as free symbol to other candidates in the constituencies where the aforesaid parties do not field their candidates.
In the event of these two parties failing to meet the requirement of the minimum number of candidates, 10 percent of total constituencies, in the Assembly election, the said common symbols shall not be made available to their contestants.
