Sahitya Akademi, JKAACL organize seminar on Dogri poetry

JAMMU, Dec 12: Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in a joint effort organized a 2-day seminar on Dogri poetry here in KL Saigal Hall.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), who was the chief guest on the occasion. Padmashree Padma Sachdev presided over the function.
While delivering presidential address, Padma Sachdev, a renowned Dogri poetess, said that such seminars will provide an opportunity to analyze the Dogri language and literature in this world of global change.
In his address, Prof RD Sharma said that such seminars/conferences are always held with an aim to think and deliberate upon the issues related to the promotions of Dogri culture and literature. He expressed his hope that during the deliberations in these two days, they will finally reach to certain conclusions with new directions and suggestions that how language and Dogri Poetry in particular have enriched Dogri in content with other contemporary poetry.
Dr Lalit Magotra, convener of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, also expressed his viewpoint in holding the seminar on Dogri poetry. He said that the intellectuals who will present their papers during the seminar will suggest new innovative ways of achieving the target.
The first day of the seminar was divided into two sessions. The first session was presided over by Desh Bandhu Dogra ‘Nutan’ and those who presented their papers were Dr Om Goswami, Narinder Bhasin and Surjit Hosh.
In the second session, Sunil Kumar, Yash Raina and Dr Nirmal Vinod presented their papers and the session was presided over by Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, HoD Dogri, JU.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, conducted proceedings of the programme and also presented vote of thanks.
Chattarpal, president, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and Devender Kumar Devesh of Sahitya Akademi were also present.
