Sagar sermons Speaker

JAMMU, Mar 29:  Virtually raising a finger of doubt on integrity of the Speaker, the National Conference MLA Ali Mohd Sagar today asked the former to have self introspection.
While participating in the debate on Demands for Grants of the Law and Parliamentary   Affairs Department, the NC MLA also sought to defend his party colleague Javed Rana for his alleged controversial remark against the Speaker and said that right or wrong depends upon the situation.
Alleging that former Speaker Tara Chand too had the habit of looking towards treasury benches during his earlier days, Mr Sagar stressed that the person sitting on the Chair should be unbiased.
“I am totally correct while making this statement in the House that seniors are not being given due respect and one should not forget that opposition has a crucial role in the democracy,” he said.
The NC MLA also accused the Government of ignoring Legislators and just playing to the galleries while making tall claims on empowerment of the Assembly.
Referring to the delegation of powers to the bureaucrats by some Ministers, Mr Sagar said that empowerment of officers would not change the situation on ground level. “For a change at ground level, you have to empower Institutions, Assembly and the Legislators,” he said.
The MLA recalled that during the PDP’s earlier tenure in 2002 also, Legislators were ignored and so called Kashmir experts were involved in the peace process thus resulting into failure of the entire exercise.
