Sagar for transparency, accountability in implementation of RD schemes

JAMMU, Jan 21: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar today directed the officers to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of various Rural Development schemes.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting of the grievance cell constituted to monitor the implementation of various Rural Development schemes and also look into the complaints if any from various quarters.
Director Rural Development Jammu, Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Director Social Audit, Dr. A. G. Sofi, Member Secretary MGNREGA, Pawan Rathore and other senior officers of the grievance cell and Rural Development Department were present in the meeting.
The Minister directed the officers to conduct extensive tours of different areas of the State to get first-hand information about the implementation of the Rural development schemes and also check the veracity of the complaints. He said that a full proof mechanism should also be devised to ensure that action is initiated on the complaints within shortest possible time and redressed accordingly.
Mr. Sagar said that the grievance cell has been constituted to look into the complaints, check their veracity, ensure redressal and give report to the higher authorities for taking appropriate action against the officials who are found deviating from the set procedures to be adopted for the implementation of various Rural Development schemes.
The Minister also asked the officers to ensure timely submission of the reports of various field functionaries and officers about the action being taken about the redressal of various complaints and also about their authenticity.
The Minister was told that action has been taken on the complaints received and adequate redressal has also been done by conducting thorough investigation on most of them.
