Sadhotra reviews post earthquake measures, interacts with NDMA team

Doda, May 12: To review the post earthquake measures taken by the district administration in the region and to expedite the relief and rehabilitation measures put in place by the State Government for earthquake hit people of Bhaderwah, Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra today convened a meeting of the District and Sectoral officers at Bhaderwah.
MLA Bhaderwah Mohd. Sharief Niaz, MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh,  CPO Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan besides team members from NDMA New Delhi and various other District and Tehsil level officers attended the meeting.
While speaking on the occasion, Minister asked the officers to ensure actual and onground assessment of damages in the region so that all the affected people get benefit of the relief and rehabilitation programme. He asked the officers to provide tents to those affected families whose houses have been severely damaged  due to quake.
The Minister also announced that the distribution of free ration sanctioned for the affected families will start from tomorrow. He asked the officers to ensure proper and equal distribution of ration among the affected families so that each and every deserving / affected family get sigh of relief.
The Minister also interacted with the team of  National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) comprising of Scientists and Professionals from IIT Madras and IIT Hyderabad who  visited quake affected areas of Bhaderwah and accessed the damage.
The team consists of Prof. C.V Murty from IIT Chennai Madras, Prof. Pardeep Kumar from Department of Civil Engineering IIT Hyderabad,   A.K Jain Under Secretary NDMA New Delhi, Hari Kumar President Geo- Hazard Society,  Ajay Chaurasia President Scientist CSIR, Central Building Research Institute Roorki and Anoop Kumar Director Keranth RVK Specialist New Delhi.
Earlier, the team visited various severely affected parts of Bhaderwah and interacted with the people on the occasion. They said that there is need of long term planning and implementation/ constitution of District Disaster Management Plan in the region so that better and earthquake resistant building could be made to minimize the loss of life and property in such natural calamities in future.
