S Korea Jan s/adj current account surplus at record high

SEOUL, Mar 2: South Korea’s current account surplus in January jumped to a record high of $10.73 billion in seasonally adjusted terms from a revised $7.72 billion surplus in December, central bank data showed on Monday.   Exports in January fell by a seasonally adjusted 9.2 percent on-month to $46.51 billion while imports dropped by a sharper 15.5 percent to $36.68 billion, producing a goods account surplus of $9.83 billion, the Bank of Korea data showed.

In the financial account, Asia’s fourth-largest economy saw a net outflow of $8.24 billion in January, without adjustments for seasonal patterns, compared to a net outflow of $9.80 billion in December. (AGENCIES)
