I want to draw your attention to the accident that happened at Jewel Chowk B C road Jammu on 10th Dec. The administration has given a full freedom to the bus drivers to ply on the road without any hurdle. The buses commonly named super fast buses are not actually superfast but they are death traps. We enjoy the fast ride…. feeling that we are in a roller coaster, but, we feel stunned only when untowards incident happen with us. We all, passengers, drivers and police are responsible for these accidents. Some steps can be taken to avoid such incidents.
Police should take appropriate steps.. like start driver counselling classes for bus drivers turn by turn.
Make it mandatory to attend the classes for each and every driver. Teach them safe driving techniques. Police should also collect information from underground agents about drivers who take alcohol and act accordingly.
Underground agents can also provide information about those who drive rashly. Passenger feedback should be taken into consideration on these ill-fated routes. Also on behalf of traffic police, a help – line number can be written inside these so called superfast buses so that anyone can complain about rush driver sitting inside the bus.
