‘Run for Unity’ organized across J&K on birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

JAMMU, Oct 31: To commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, “Run for Unity” were organized across the Jammu and Kashmir, which witnessed huge participation of people.
Remembering great sacrifices of 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel popularly known as “Loh Purush”, State BJP organized “Run for Unity” programme which started from the Satwari Chowk and culminated at MAM Stadium, Jammu. Massive rally of common masses ran to participate in the run organized to pay tributes to the great man, who contributed whole hearted to unite all the princely States to form a great nation in the form of dominion of India. The run was led by BJP State President and MLA Sat Sharma along with Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, MP Rajya Sabha Shamsher Singh Manhas, Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, State General Secretary Harinder Gupta, MLA and Party Chief Whip Rajesh Gupta, MoS Priya Sethi, MLCs Ramesh Arora, Vikram Randhawa and Girdhari Lal Raina, Shiv Kumar Gupta and other senior leaders of the party. Sanjay Baru, SS Bijral, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Arvind Gupta, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Ayodhya Gupta, Ambedkar Gupta and many others were present on the occasion.
To celebrate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Jammu Municipal Corporation organized “Run for Unity” which started from Mubarak Mandi Complex to Zanana Park, Jammu. Dr Nirmal Singh, Dy CM flagged off the rally in presence of Kavinder Gupta, Speaker, Priya Sethi,  Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Vikram Randhawa, MLC accompanied by Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr SD Singh, IGP, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, JMC and other officers and officials of JMC. A large number of students and teachers from various schools also participated in the event.  Prize distribution for winners of Essay Competition was also organized by JMC.
Srinagar Unit of BJP organised “Run for Unity” to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Party leaders led by State Vice President Yudhvir Sethi and Ashok Koul, General Secretary of BJP besides people drawn from different sections of society ran from Nehru Park to Hotel Santoor on Boulverd Road sending a message of peace and national integration. State Vice President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Vice Chairman SICOP Dr Ali Mohammad Mir, State Secretary, Anuradha Charak, State Media Secretary, Altaf Thakur, Incharge State Training Cell, Raju Charak, Protocol Incharge Kashmir Arif Raja, Office Incharge Kashmir Mohammad Tahir Mir, Incharge Kisan Morcha Kashmir, MM War and many others were present on the occasion.
There would have been no Kashmir problem if Sardar Patel would have been allowed to handle the affairs of the J&K also like other 560 Indian States. This was stated by former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta while remembering Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his birthday.
To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, District Administration Udhampur organized various programmes at district and tehsil level in the district. The main function was held at District Headquarter in which pledge was administered by District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar to officer and officials of various departments at DC conference Hall here today. Assistant commissioner Revenue, Subash Dogra, Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, Programme Officer, DRDA, Dr Jagdish Mehra, PO IWMP, Sushil Kesar and officers of various departments participated in the programme. Earlier, a rally “Run for Unity” was also organized from District Police Line Udhampur, which was flagged off by MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta in presence of DIG, Varinder Kumar, DDC, Ravinder Kumar, SSP, Rayees Bhat, large number students, policemen and prominent citizens.
MLA Ramnagar RS Pathania flagged of the Run for Unity organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police, from premises of GHSS Ramnagar which was attended by student drawn from various schools and culminated at Dak Bungalow Ramnagar. The marathon was organized by JKP to commemorate celebration of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s birthday.
On the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta flagged off an Ekta Rally at Keri Sector, a border area in Rajouri. He was joined by hundreds of local youth and students and paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel. A large number of students and teachers, many local also participated in this run for unity which started from the GHSS Sasalkote and culminated at BDO, Keri.
On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), District Police Jammu organized “Run for Unity”, in which people from all walks of life including students from various schools and colleges, sports associations, private institutions, retired police personnel, civil society groups, CRPF and army personnel participated. The “Run for Unity” was flagged-off in presence of Dr SD Singh, IGP Jammu Zone, SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta, Zonal SSPs, SDPOs of District Jammu, DySP Headquarters Jammu, DySP DAR, Jammu, Commandants of Jammu based IRP and Armed Battalions and other officers of District Police and Armed Police from Gulshan Ground Jammu. The prizes in shape of trophies and participation certificates were given to winners by SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta, SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal, SP Operations Vinay Kumar, SP Rural Shivdeep Singh and DD SSG Jammu Abdul Qyoom. Mohd Ismail, Akshay Bhagat and Ajay Kumar were winners in male age group of 15-21 years. Mehul Sharma, Jaspreet Kour and Varsha Wadera were declared as first, second and third respectively in female age group of 15-21 years. Rajesh Gujja, Manoj Singh and Mohit Kumar were winners in male age group of 22-35 years. Captain Preeti Rai, Mannu Jasrotia and Rama Saini were winners in female age group of 22-35 years. Naik Vihsnu Singh, Naik Roshan Lal and Havaldar Bharat Rai were winners in male age group of 36 years and above. In the evening, the march passes were also organized at each Police Sub-Division.
Run for Unity was organized by SDPO Jammu West Pranav Mahajan in which large number of people participated. SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma also joined the run. Social worker Karandeep Singh Lucky, Rajat Gupta, Aastik Kohli, Lovely Chandan, Jimmy Singh, Lithesh Kohli, Sunil and many others were also present on the occasion.
At Rajouri, District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, flagged off a grand “Run for Unity” rally taken out by the students, teachers, civil society members, district officers of civil and police administration from DC Office Complex. The rally after going through the market culminated at District Police Lines where a spectacular function was organized to mark the day. The National Unity pledge was also administered to participants. The National Unity Day was also observed across all the tehsils in the district. Motor Vehicle and Police departments distributed books on road safety signs among the participants. SSP Yougal Manhas, ADDC, AS Chib, ACR Qayoom Mir, Additional SP Mohammad Yousuf, Tehsildar Mohammad Raiyaz, ARTO Jugal Kishore, DySP DAR Shazia Mir, DySP Headquarters Jaswant Singh, DEPO Gulzar Hussain and DYSSO Swarn Singh were also present on the occasion.
At Samba, the “Run for Unity” was organized by the District Administration. The administration organized different events like Mass Pledge, Cycle Race, Marathon Race and Walkathon. MLA, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal flagged off participants under different categories. Amardeep Singh, S/o Raghubir Chand and Amardeep Singh, S/o Bhag Singh secured first positions in cycling (Boys) under 14 and above 14 category, Swadha Jamwal and Aditi Sambyal secured first positions in cycling (Girls) under 14 and above 14 category, Nitin Choudhary and Gurnam Singh stood first in under 14 and above 14 (Boys) Marathon category, Preeti and Rashida Bibi clinched first position in girls under 14 and above 14 Marathon category. In marathon security forces category, Mukesh Kumar from 80 BSF Battalion was the winner. DC Sheetal Nanda, SSP Anil Magotra, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma, district officers, members of ex serviceman league and citizens participated in these events.
At Kathua, district administration organized an inter school symposium on the theme of National Integration at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua. Deputy Commissioner, Rishpal Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The National Unity pledge was also administered to the students, staff  and officers present which was followed by flagging off of  the ‘Unity Rally’ by Deputy Commissioner in which hundreds of school students with the message on placards crossed through main markets of the Kathua town. Additional SP Kathua, SE PDD, ACD, CEO, district officers, school staff and large number of students participated in the programme.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his birth anniversary by organizing “Run for Unity”, march past and pledge taking ceremony. On the occasion, Director of the Academy Mohammad Sulaiman Salaria, IGP flagged off the run. A ceremonial march past by the trainees and staff of Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur was also organized. The occasion ended with pledge taking ceremony.
To commemorate birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, “Run for Unity” was organized on the occasion of “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” by District Police Reasi under the supervision of Tahir Sajjad Bhat SSP Reasi in which all the citizens of Reasi participated.  In senior category, Rohit Verma, Narinder Singh and Riknu Singh emerged winners and were awarded Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 cash prizes respectively, whereas in junior boys category, Mohammad Altaf, Rahul Singh and Sajad Hussain emerged winners and cash prizes of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 were presented to them. In junior girls, Darshna Devi, Surya Bibi and Anju Bhagat emerged winners and were given cash prizes of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively. Three senior citizens namely Daleep Singh, Mohammad Arshad and Surjeet Singh were also awarded with consolation prizes of Rs 500 each. During the event, Virinder Singh Additional SP Reasi, Nikhil Gogna, DySP Headquarters Reasi, Satish Bhardwaj DySP DAR Reasi, Inspector Jasbir Singh SHO Police Station Reasi, others police officers and officials, sports officers, teachers and prominent citizens were also present. Later, SSP Reasi distributed prizes among all the winners. A programme in this regard was also conducted at Mahore.
To mark National Unity Day, “Run for Unity” and pledge taking ceremony were organized by District Police Ramban. The run started from Dak Bunglow Ramban and culminated at Maitra park. Deputy Commissioner Ramban Tariq Hussain Gania, SSP Ramban Mohan Lal, ADC Gurvinder Jit Singh, ASP Mushtaq Chowdhary and other district officers besides large number of public participated in the programme.
To commemorate birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, District Police Kishtwar organized “Run for Unity”, in which hundreds of people including students and security personnel participated. The rally was flagged off by the DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary and Commanding Officer 17 RR Hari Krishnan in presence of the civil and police officers including ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, Additional SP Perbeet Singh Parihar, CEO Kishtwar Development Authority Pawan Singh Parihar, CEO Kishtwar Ajeet Kumar Sharma and Major Bakshi. A march past was organized at District Police Lines Kishtwar wherein the troops of Police, IRP, CISF, CRPF, school children and large number of people participated.
To mark National Unity Day, District Police Poonch organized “Run for Unity” in collaboration with district administration Poonch. The unity run flagged off from DC Office Poonch culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch. A march past was organized by district police Poonch at Sports Stadium Poonch. MLC Yashpal Sharma, MLC Pardeep Sharma, Ex MLC Jahangir Mir, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Tariq Ahmed Zargar, Commander 93 Infantry Brigade AS Penderker, SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey, ADDC Poonch Abdul Hameed, ASP Poonch, ADC Poonch other police and civil officers, people from all walks of life and students were present on the occasion.
A day long programme on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) organized by Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India concluded at Poonch today. The event was organized in coordination with district administration. District Police and children drawn from various schools participated in “Run for Unity” programme which was flagged off by MLC Pardeep Sharma along with Deputy Commissioner Poonch Tariq Ahmed Zarger and SSP Poonch. The rally culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch whereas the March Past Parade by District Police along with CRPF Battalion Poonch was held. A quiz competition was organized by Directorate of Field Publicity. Theme based cultural programmes were also organized which entertained the audience present on the occasion. A prize distribution ceremony was held and winners of the quiz competition were awarded with medals and certificates.
National Unity Day was celebrated by IRP-14th Battalion at Channi Himmat to commemorate the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion, an oath ceremony was held at Battalion Headquarters Armed Police Complex Channi Himmat. While addressing to participants, Manohar Singh, SSP, Commandant IR-14th Battalion gave brief description on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and also highlighted the achievements and contribution towards the Independence of India and keeping the nation united by consolidating 565 semi-autonomous princely states to form a united India. Deputy Commandant and other GOs of IRP-14th Battalion were also present on the occasion.
Frontier Headquarters BSF Jammu observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with enthusiasm and zeal, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. While addressing the BSF troops at BSF Camp Paloura, Ram Awtar IG BSF highlighted the importance of National Unity and Integrity. BSF has been celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by organizing sensitization drive at public places, run for unity, organ donation camp, march past, cultural programme, lectures and interactive sessions. BSF troops vehemently participated in ‘Run for Unity’ organized at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
On the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, District Police Doda organized “Run for Unity”, which started from Sports Stadium and culminated at old bridge Pull Doda. The race was flagged off by the DC Doda Bhawani Rakwal and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir. In the race competition, Janesh Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar emerged winners and cash prizes of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 along with certificate of participation were given to them. Rs 100 each was given to the participant who secured first 10 positions.  Additional DC Doda Mohammad Hanief Malik, Additional SP Headquarters Doda Vinay Kumar, Additional SP Operations Ravinderpal Singh, DySP Headquarters Doda Iftakhar Ahmed, DySP DAR Nazir Ganai, Tehsildar Doda Nasir Natnoo, District Sports Officer Ashok Kumar, besides other district officers of civil administration as well as police department and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
To pay tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, Subsidiary Training Centre Border Security Force (STC BSF) Udhampur organized a marathon on National Unity Day. In the marathon, officers, jawans, students, teachers and citizens of the area participated. Students of Jawahar Navodhya Vidayala also presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion. Director General STC BSF, Surjeet Singh Dogra highlighted the extraordinary works of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Later, an awareness rally was also taken out by the officers and jawans of STC BSF to spread the message of unity and harmony.
The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated as National Unity Day at SDRF Battalion Headquarters Jammu. A march past followed by pledge ceremony of SDRF personnel was organized in which all gazetted officers and jawans of battalion participated. Rashi Wazir, SSP, Commandant SDRF 2nd Battalion took the salute.
GRP Katra commemorated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by celebrating National Unity Day. A Run for Unity was organized in which all ranks of GRP Katra, other forces stationed at GRP Lines Katra and some youth of the locals headed by SSP Railways Katra Ranjir Singh Sambyal, SDPO Railways Bodh Raj participated.
To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a pledge taking ceremony and Run for Unity were organized by Commandant JKAP-4th Security at Unit Headquarters at Armed Police Complex, Channi. Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria, SSP alongwith Deputy Commandants, Quarter Master and other officers of the unit including SP Paramjeet Singh, SP Labbu Ram, DySP Naseem Mahmood, RI Surinder Paul Singh, MTO Pankaj Sharma, SI Virjinder Kumar, SI Ravinder Kumar, SI Sohni Koul, Selection Grade Constables and Hawaldars participated. A rally “Run for Unity” was also organized in complex.
To commemorate “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” (National Unity Day), the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu (JU), organized a ‘Unity March’ which originated from the Fountain Plaza. Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, JU, flagged-off the unity march which was attended by a huge gathering including Dr Meenakshi Kilam, JU Registrar, teachers, staff, students and scholars of the University.
The NSS wing of KC College of Education celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in the college premises. A special assembly was organized wherein volunteers displayed patriotic fervor by singing patriotic songs and poems. Afterwards there was ‘Pledge taking ceremony’ followed by National Anthem. Thereafter ‘Run for unity’ was organized in which students participated whole heartedly.
Ranjit College of Education celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. All the students and faculty of the college participated in the event. To pay tribute to the Iron Man of India, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge was read to maintain unity and integrity of the Nation. Also National Anthem was sung by the students.
NSS unit of Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Kathua celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The function started with floral tributes to Vallabh Bhai Patel. A pledge was also taken by the students to dedicate themselves for integrity and unity of the Nation.
National College of Education, Purkhoo Camp, Jammu celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel with gusto in the form of National Unity Day. Principal Dr Manju Dwivedi along with staff members and students offered floral tributes to Sardar Patel. NSS Students of the college took pledge for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. An essay writing competition was also organized. Run for Unity was organized in neighbouring area of college by NSS volunteers.
The NSS wing of Government MAM College celebrated the 142th Birth Anniversary of late Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by organizing a symposium on the topic Sardar Vallabh Bhai Thaverbhai Patel and National Unity Day. Programme began with the floral tributes given by the Principal of the College, Dr Ajeet Angral and other dignitaries present, followed by the pledge on National Unity.
Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a symposium in the backdrop of National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Six participants shared their views on the occasion regarding the thought and philosophy of Sardar Patel. Principal, Dr Chander Shekhar, who was the chief guest of the occasion, also threw light on the life and contribution of Sardar Patel.
A function was organized in GDC Billawar to celebrate 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’. College students participated in the programme whole heartedly. To begin with National Anthem, Unity Day pledge was administered to all by the Principal, Prof Suresh Kumar Sharma. To mark the occasion, essay writing competition, Talk on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, poems and group song on Unity Day were organized.
The NSS unit of Government Degree College (Boys), Kathua celebrated “National Unity Day” on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The function started with traditional lamp lightening ceremony and paying of floral tributes to the Sardar Patel. Chief guest of the function, Prof Somnesh, enlightened the audience with his views on National Unity Day. Later a pledge on National unity was taken by the staff members and NSS volunteers.
‘National Unity Day’ was celebrated in Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani by the NSS unit of the college. The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp and paying floral tributes to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. This was followed by singing of National Anthem and National unity pledge taken by the staff and students of the college.
NSS and NCC Units of GDC Udhampur celebrated the National Unity Day. Principal of the College, Dr SK Magotra along with staff and students paid floral tribute to the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabbhai Patel. The programme concluded with the taking of pledge for the Unity of the Nation and National Anthem.
The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was celebrated by GCW Kathua as “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”. The celebration started with floral tributes to the leader followed by a symposium on the topic “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: architect of Indian Union” wherein students dwelled upon role and relevance of Sardar Patel’s philosophy in creation of Indian Union. Later, ADC Kathua, Rashpal Singh, who was the chief guest, flagged off “Run for Unity” for staff and students of the College.
GDC Thannamandi in collaboration with NSS unit of the College celebrated National Unity Day. Principal of the College, Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina, along with staff members paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel. The students also undertook a pledge to uphold the unity and integrity of our country.
BSF School celebrated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day), in the school campus. A floral tribute was paid to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. National Unity Day pledge was administered to all by the Principal Dr SK Shukla while NCC cadets presented march past. Dr Shukla flagged off a Rally which went round the Campus carrying the message of unity and nationalism among the masses.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was celebrated in Government HSS Mandal Phallian with great enthusiasm. Principal JR Sharma along with staff members paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel. Various students spoke on the importance of the day. A run for unity was also organized. In the end, a pledge for unity of the county was also solemnized to all present on the occasion.
Government Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in its premises. On this occasion, the pledge for unity was taken by all the students and staff members of the institution. Later, Principal Ved Parkash Sharma flagged off the “The Run for Unity Rally” from School. The rally passed through Main Bazaar of the town and return back to school.
On the occasion of “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”, a special cover was today released by the J&K Postal Circle in a simple but impressive function. Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Sanjay Sharan, released the special cover and handed over to Suresh Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, State Forest Corporation, who was chief guest on the occasion. Director Postal Services (HQ) J&K, Gaurav Shrivastava, Deputy Director, Accounts (Postal), Arun Kumar, was also present.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu here today celebrated this day as National Unity Day by organizing run for unity marathon in which hundreds from all walks of life participated. The marathon was flagged off by Rajneesh Anand, Chief Scientist, from main campus of the institute at Canal Road.
Salal Power Station observed ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) with great enthusiasm. The programme started with ‘Run for Unity’ from Ramleela Ground, Jyotipuram to Bidda to convey the message of unity. The event was inaugurated by Himanshu Shekhar, General Manager, Salal Power Station by flagging off the runners. March past was conducted by CISF and student contingents. During march past, tricolor was also hoisted. Thereafter, a ‘Pledge Taking Ceremony’ was organized.
J&K Freedom Fighters’ Association (JKFFA) celebrated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 142nd birth anniversary in a function held at Dogra Shourya Sthal, Amphalla. Ved Gandotra, president, JKFFA along with other members of the association paid floral and candle light tributes at the photograph of Sardar Patel. They said that the contribution of the Sardar Vallabbhai Patel would be remembered forever for his historic contribution in ensuring the integration of the country.
National Unity Day was observed in NHPC Regional Office, Jammu to commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel. On the occasion, S Kalgaonkar, Executive Director, while administering pledge to all the employees of the office, recalled the Sardar Patel for integrating the nation. After this, all the employees participated in the Run for Unity. A documentary on the life of Sardar Patel was also shown.
At Pulwama, a function was held at DPL from where a race was flagged off under ‘Run for Unity’ from DPL to Circular Road Tahab crossing by District Development Commissioner, Ghulam Mohammad Dar. The event was organized by J&K Police Pulwama. SSP Pulwama, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, CO CRPF 182 Battalion, Army, CRPF and other district officers were also present.
At Kulgam, District Development Commissioner, Talat Parvez Rohella flagged off a run on the 142nd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel organized by J&K Police Kulgam. SP Kulgam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Principals of GDCs, Additional SP, CEO, CMO, and other district officers were present on the occasion. The race started from DPL Kulgam and ended at DC office complex where a prize distribution ceremony was held. Later, a painting competition with national unity and integration was also held in which 200 students of different schools of the district participated.
At Ganderbal, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla chaired a pledge taking ceremony to observe the ‘National Unity Day’ in the district. ADDC Ganderbal, NA Baba, CPO Ganderbal, ACD Ganderbal and all the district officers were present on the occasion. Soon after the pledge taking ceremony, a ‘Run for Unity’ was held in which all the district officers, students of various schools, and senior citizens participated.
At Baramulla, a function was held to celebrate ‘National Unity Day’ at Showkat Ali Stadium, Baramulla in which District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash was the chief guest. SSP, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba, CMO, CEO, Tehsildar Baramulla, Tehsildar HQ, Sports Officer Baramulla, Coordinator NYK various district and sectoral officers besides NYK volunteers, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. DDC flagged off the ‘Run for unity’ in which people of different walks participated.
At Kupwara, in connection with ‘National Unity Day’ several functions, rallies, seminars and symposiums were organised by the District Police Kupwara in collaboration with district administration, Urban Local Bodies, Education, and Information Department. The main function was held by the District Police Kupwara under the supervision of SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Husain who flagged off the rally from New Bus stand Regipora Kupwara in presence of ACR and Tehsildar. Around 250 students from 5 higher secondary schools participated in the rally. A seminar was also organized by the District Police, Kupwara at TRC. Meanwhile, Executive Officer, MCK conducted an impressive function under ‘Run for Unity’ at Town Hall Kupwara wherein the officers of district administration, Urban Local Bodies, MCK, and Education participated.
A function was held at TFC Ground Kargil to celebrate ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) which also commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali was the chief guest and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Lai Khan was the guest of Honour. DC Kargil, SSP Kargil, Brigadier 121 Infantry Brigade and district officers were also present. The programme was organized by District Administration in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra and District Police Kargil. An impressive March Past by Police Contingent was also presented at TFC Kargil. Chairman flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ from TFC Kargil.
On the occasion of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) District Police Leh organised a five-kilometre ‘Run for unity’. The run for unity was flagged off from Shanti Stupa by Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay in presence of Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa, SSP Leh Sargun Shukla and ASP Leh Stanzin Losal besides other dignitaries.
The run for unity which was participated by school students, army and ITBP concluded at NDS Stadium with a grand ceremony in presence of Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjay, MP Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang, CLP leader and MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora besides a large number of public and the participants of the run.
Similarly ITBP also organise Run for Unity in which large number of ITBP officers and jawans participated to run from ITBP camp to Sindhu Ghat.
